So many books to read!

There are so many books that I want to read before the end of the summer!

1. "Drop, Dead, Healthy"
I'm reading this now and it chronicles a man's journey to become the healthiest man on earth. It's actually really funny too, and a pretty easy read.

2. "What to Eat"

3. "It Starts with Food"

So I've started today with a 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a bit of brown sugar. I intended to have a short morning run this morning, but I could not get myself out of bed. Instead, I slept in. To make up for this, I plan to take a Pilates class, spin, and core class later in the day. Maybe, I'll fit in some time for running!

Short Term & Long Term Goals!

So I've been reading a couple (probably wayyy too many) blogs on fitness, exercise (specifically running), nutrition, and generally things about good health. I feel very inspired and motivated after reading about people who make such a conscious effort to push themselves in either nutrition or fitness. Although, my views may be unfounded and there may not be exact scientific proof (as far as I know), but I do think a positive relationship exists for people who make an effort to live a healthy life and between other aspects of life. I've noticed that people who try to eat healthy and exercise are also more likely to have high goals and standards for themselves and to want to at least try in life. I think there's something about reaching a fitness or nutrition goal that really catalyzes an individual to try in their work life, personal life, and etc. They don't give up. I find that extremely admirable.

Due to my new found motivation, I am going to compile a list of fitness goals that I want to achieve!

Short Term

1. Break 2 hours for my next half marathon!
My next half is in November, but I am contemplating doing on in September as well. My first half marathon took place just last month and I finished at 2:18:24. I definitely could have trained harder and pushed myself harder, especially since the longest run I had prior to the half marathon was only 9 miles. After doing the math, that averages around 9:00. I think its definitely do-able!

2.  Run a 5-K in 23:30

3. Do a Pull-Up
Man, I am so envious of all those men at the gym who can do like 20-something pull ups. I'm aiming to do just 1 by the end of this year!

Long Term

1. Run a full marathon
I want to run a full marathon just to finish!

2. Become a personal trainer.
I had a personal trainer this past year. She pushed me in ways that I thought was unimaginable. I would definitely recommend a personal trainer if you've got the moolah for it. Because of what she has taught me and how she has motivated me, I would like to make others feel the same way I felt.
