This week in fitness: 1/29-2/3

Tuesday: 2 mi + legs
Wednesday: 3 mi + chest + triceps
Thursday: 3 mi speed run + cycle
Friday: 1 mi + back + biceps
Saturday: 6 mi (long run) + shoulders
Sunday: 2 mi + yoga

It's a busy week but I'm hoping I can fit in all of this!

I tried Fitnessista's Winter Shape Up Challenge Workout #1! It was pretty challenging but I managed to finish around 40 minutes. I added a 5 min incline walk, oblique raises, KB swings, and a tabata on the treadmill at the end.

Things I'm Thinking About

1. Getting Back into Shape
After being away for 2 weeks in France, I am definitely out of shape. My running group planned on going on a 6 mile run on Monday, and I thought that I could possibly handle it. I barely managed 3 miles! Needless to say...I'm a little scared to get back into the gym. I have a couple of races coming up. So I created a half-marathon training plan for the Nike Women's Half Marathon! Here is a brief glimpse:

2013 Fitness Events:
  • Nike Women's Half: April 28, 2013
Goal: 8:20 pace per mile (1:50)
  • Run for the Dream Half Marathon: June 2, 2013
Goal: 8:00 pace per mile (1:45)
  • Richmond Marathon: November 16, 2013
Goal: 10:20 pace per mile (4:30)
2. Finances
I have been fortunate to have assistance while in graduate school and managed to have a part-time job while in school. However, becoming an adult is also financially frightening. I have started to think about my credit score and savings and investing. Ideally, I would like to pay off my student loans within 2 years after graduating, while also comfortably enjoying life (dining out, traveling, guilt-free purchases with disposable income). Just today, I've activated a new credit card, started an IRA, and revamped my mint.com. Bills, bills, bills....

3.  Cooking Funk
I am usually avidly looking for recipes to cook from. Lately, I've been un-enthused with cooking. Maybe I need to find some new sources.

Here is my first post for 2013. Hopefully, I'll write more this year!
